Privacy Policy for Utility Meter Tracker

Effective date: 26 September 2026 (version 1.4)

Utility Meter Tracker is published under the developer name JC Sense ("we", "us", or "our"). This policy explains how the app handles information.

Information handled by the app

The app lets you enter property names and addresses, meter details, unit costs, readings, notes, and optional meter photographs. This information is stored in the app's private storage on your device.

Optional Google Drive backup

If you choose to enable Google Drive backup, the app asks you to sign in to your own Google account. It then stores an app-only backup containing your meter data and optional meter photographs in that account's private Google Drive application-data area. JC Sense cannot access these backups. You can restore a backup when reinstalling the app or moving to another device after signing in to the same Google account.

Advertising

The app may show advertisements supplied by Google AdMob. Google and its advertising partners may process device identifiers, IP address, approximate location, and ad-interaction information to provide, measure, and personalise ads where permitted. We do not receive your meter readings, photographs, notes, property names, or addresses for advertising.

Where required, the app presents Google's consent choices before requesting ads. You can revisit applicable consent choices using Advertising privacy choices in Settings when Google makes this option available.

Camera and photographs

If you choose to take or select a meter photograph, the app uses the device camera or system photo picker only for that action. The photograph is copied to the app's private storage so that you can view it with the saved reading. It is not analysed or transmitted to us. If you enable backup, photographs are included in the backup sent to your own Google Drive.

Data retention and deletion

Your meter data remains on your device until you delete it in the app, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app. Optional Drive backups persist after uninstalling or turning backup off. Each installation updates its own latest backup; backups from other installations can remain. You can remove the app's hidden backup data through Google Drive's Manage apps settings and revoke access through your Google Account. Advertising data is handled under Google's applicable retention policies.

Children's privacy

The app is a household utility tool and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Security

The app relies on the operating system's private application storage protections. Backup transfers use HTTPS and access is limited to this app's hidden Drive application-data area. Backups are not separately password-encrypted by the app or end-to-end encrypted; they rely on Google's storage and account protections. No method of storage can be guaranteed completely secure. Protect your device and Google account, ideally with two-step verification.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app's features or legal obligations change. The current version will be available at the privacy-policy URL shown on Google Play and from within the app.
